Christmas, ’tis the season for cheers and joy and gifts. It is also the season for delicious food and temporary amnesia about the diet we’ve been on for the past couple of months.
While there is no snow in Malaysia—and Santa is probably too lazy to look for chimneys here—we definitely have the food covered. Restaurants and diners all over the city have all come up with their own Christmas menus, and you should really try them out, if only because it’s limited to this time of the year.
1. Melting Pot Café
The Melting Pot Café at Concorde Hotel has been blessing us with good food and a comfortable environment since its inception. And this year for Christmas, they’re giving us more with their Christmas buffet menus, adorned with seasonal delights like roast turkey, New Zealand sea perch, and grilled beef with poached pear. You can enjoy an exquisite cuisine meant for the most gastronomical Christmas food journey through a high tea, dinner and supper!

2. Cinnamon Coffee House
Even without the galore of Christmas, Cinnamon Coffee House has been winning awards with their cuisine delights that come from all over the world. They also have a live kitchen concept, where you can look into their kitchen and watch the crew cooking up your meal. This Christmas, Cinnamon Coffee House is organising a luxurious Christmas buffet dinner for their guests at One World Hotel, cooking up succulent turkey, prawn grit on frittatas, beef brisket cream soup, and a whole lot more! You are, of course, expected to make a reservation, to save yourself a spot.

3. Zender’s Restaurant & Bar
Publika serves as an activities hub in KL, lined with stores upon stores that are open till late at night to accommodate the night owls. Zender’s Restaurant & Bar happens to be one of the more popular ones in Publika, serving exquisite European dishes in an ambient environment for its patrons. Thus, of course they would join in on the fun for the whole Christmas menu frenzy. Featured on their menu this year is pumpkin soup, salad, brownies, pannacota, grilled chicken, sirloined steak, and more! To avoid not getting a table when you’re there, you can always call or visit their website to make a reservation first!

4. Tray Café
Tray Café’s main attraction is that they are a communal-style eatery, fully believing that strangers can totally become friends over food. This is all the more true during the Christmas season. After all, what better way to bond than to share your love for a well-roasted turkey? Tray’s Café’s Christmas menu consists of dishes like roast beef with Port sauce, quiches, wine lamb and prune stew, and rosemary roast potatoes.

5. Yoogane Malaysia
What? Koreans celebrate Christmas too! And who knows? Maybe your Christmas will be all the more special with Korean dishes, instead of the generic western grill-and-fry. This festive season, you’ll be able to enjoy their Christmas menu that consists of chicken pan, crab, tteok-galbi, prawn, and salad. They also offer festive drinks and desserts to accompany the hearty dishes.

6. Nook @ Aloft
Nook at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is rocking this festive season with a range of offerings that will downright get you to fall in love with the holiday. For the entire month of December, they will be holding buffet dinners featuring their Christmas menu every single night. Local and Western cuisine combined, you’ll get to enjoy food items like lamb leg, beef stroganoff, roasted whole chicken, mashed potatoes, beef goulash, and more! 7. Huck’s Café
Huck’s Café is an exceptionally special café, and at first glance, you would think they are kind of elitist. They do not take walk-ins, only reservations, and they do not have a set menu. This is because the owner is always travelling and he will acquire inspiration to create new menus every time he is overseas. This year, he has just travelled to the Bavarian Alps and created a Christmas menu entirely based on the things he’s seen and tasted there. An entirely Bavarian-esque Christmas meal, where else in Malaysia can you find something like that?

8. The Living Room

9. Garage 51
Every Sunway student knows what Garage 51 is. And now, they are adding on to everyone’s love for Garage 51 with their holiday specials menu, specifically made for the Christmas celebration. And no worries, their famous Messed Up Family series is still on the menu, so you can still get your sugary pumps. Adding on to the series are the chili scrambled on toast, cinnamon french toast, and pulled hoisin smoked duck tartin.

Now, out of all the cafés in Sunway, this is my absolute favourite. The music, the environment, the customer service, the food, they are all just top notch. For Christmas, it’s not so much of a fresh festive menu but they will be having exclusive Christmas deals. You can enjoy up to 25% off all their main courses for this month in celebration for Christmas! I guess I’ll be bingeing Brotz N.19 for this whole month.
