Pet cafés have become quite the hit in recent years. A number of them have come out of emergence across Malaysia, attracting numerous pet lovers to go over and cuddle with house-friendly animals while enjoying a cup of drink or two.

Unfortunately, most of them can be quite far from the Subang area, and we Subang people are simply too lazy to face the traffic just to go to Taman OUG or Desa Sri Hartamas to coo over a couple of pooches or kitties. As if they could hear our complaints, Barks & Bites Bistro decided to locate itself in SS15, the activity hub of almost everyone in Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya.

From the exterior, you can already see white picket fence lining the border—perhaps to prevent puppers from escaping? And when you look in, you can already see hordes of dogs strolling inside; it is almost as if they own the place and the humans are only there to serve them.

Customers are welcome to bring their dogs to the café anytime they want. Among the dogs there, you can always see various breeds, like Pomeranians, Poodles, Chihuahuas, and some mixed breeds. But the three constant faces you will see are the resident huskies that belong to the owners. Big and kind of intimidating, but probably the friendliest huskies ever.

(Probably a little too friendly that it may seem like they are bullying smaller dogs, so it might be wise for you to look after your tiny canine if you decide to bring it over to this café.)

While no cover charge will be incurred, you must order drinks or food while you are there. Barks & Bites Bistro might as well be the only pet-friendly café of which the menu offers mostly Chinese food and none of the fancy dishes that we usually see at a seemingly classy café.

Among their dishes, the one that has gotten the most votes is their homemade gyoza (potstickers). People love this because it is not the frozen ones and is actually homemade; the filling is quite generous and so flavourful that you don’t have to complement with sauces like vinegar or soy sauce.

It is rather remarkable that this bistro manages to offer a pet-friendly environment and good food on an almost daily basis. If you love dogs and you want to bring your pooch out for a change of scenery, Bark & Bites Bistro might just be the place for you.
