The word ‘circus’ has long been associated with creepy clowns, fun rides and animal performers. However, if you are a big advocate against animal abuse when they are used as circus performers, and prefer the likes of circus meets Cirque Du Soleil, then the Rendezvous: A Modern Circus Arts Show is made with you in mind.

The show, which is absolutely free of charge, will be presented by Psycusix, Malaysia’s leading modern and contemporary circus performing group. The group will be performing this Saturday, November 12, at Publika.

The show will be a chance for the audience to enjoy a circus which has no shortage on the theatrical department. Expect a fusion of dance, theatre and circus arts all rolled into one to put forth a show which tells the story of a beautiful future within a monotonous society. The show will showcase the performers featuring various acts including juggling, acrobatics, aerial arts, fire arts and dance.

The international acts that will be performing are Dai Zaobab from Japan, Marvin Ong from the US, Legato Visual Performing Arts from the Philippines and Ehrlich “Firechill” Ocampo from the Philippines.

This event is in collaboration with Persatuan Seni Sarkas Moden, an association that aims to bring forth the circus arts movement to the local community. If you were transfixed by the performance, you’d be glad to know that there would be free workshops offered to the public the day after (November 13), from 3-7pm at the same venue. Learn some basic moves from the pros and you could even flaunt some of them at your next family dinner!
