1. The Language Archive

What is the power of language, and is it really enough for us to understand each other with words alone? This is the subject being explored in a comedy called The Language Archive. Follow characters George, Mary and Emma this Wednesday, as they search answers for these very questions in a 2-hour comedy at KuAsh Theatre, TTDI.

2. Movie Soundtracks 2.0

This isn’t the first time that the Sunway University Ensemble has belted out tunes from popular movies. They have once sung tracks from the likes of Phantom of the Opera and Pirates of the Caribbean just to name a few. This time around, they will be singing tracks from different popular movies as well. As for which tunes will be presented, you’ll have to check it out for yourself!

4. Film Screening: Kaki Bakar by U-Wei Haji Saari

Kaki Bakar is a film which won the Grand Prix (Best International Film Award) at the Brussels Film Awards, so you definitely know that you’re in for a treat. The movie which is based upon the Javanese heritage was first screened at the prestigious Cannes Festival in 1995, and they will be screening it once more at the Ilham Gallery. The movie is based on a certain Kakang who tries his best to instill his own traditional values and beliefs in his children as he brings them up in Malaysia. Hence, it is bound to be an educational and moving tale not to be missed.

5. Be Ohsem, Wear Pink 2.0

The Be Ohsem, Wear Pink 2.0 event is in conjunction with World Breast Cancer Awareness and several activities will be held during the event such as breast health education, basic health check up, a bazaar, a health talk as well as cooking and juicing demos. 6. Celebrating Shakespeare

In conjunction with the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will be paying tribute to the literary legend with a programme of music inspired by his greatest plays. The tunes which will be presented includes Mendelssohn’s Wedding March song which comes from the play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Tickets for the event are priced between RM60-RM150.

7. Meet & Hike at Bukit Saga

At times though, we can’t gather our group of friends together at the same time to go for a hike. Malaysian startup, LocalUsher solves this problem by organising the free event where one can meet up at Bukit Saga and hike the trail together this upcoming Saturday.

8. The Bee presents Rock & Roll Blowout

The Bee, since its inception has brought forth many events which has changed the way people attend bazaars and flea markets. It’s been 6 years since they popped up in our lives and to celebrate their birthday, they will be presenting the Rock & Roll Blowout, and it’s set to be a big event with live acts as well as pop up games such as a beer ring toss, Russian Roulette water balloon and giant jenga. One of the not-to-miss-out attractions at the event would also be their pop-up barbershop known as Kedai Gunting Gonzo.

9. YAA Beach Party Carnival

This Beach Party Carnival is set to be one of the hippest ones around and there are plenty of activities to participate in, regardless of your age. For instance, there’s the Escape Room, Mystery Maze, Hulk Eating Contest as well as the Diva Center. To find out what each of these interesting activities entail, pay the carnival a visit. Admission to the event is free but to participate in the games and to buy food, coupons must be purchased beforehand or on the day of the event itself. Best part is part of the carnival’s proceeds will also be donated to Rumah Jaireh which is a home for kids with HIV, as well as Promise Home in Puchong Prima.
