Malaysian netizens first discovered that Maria Ozawa was in our country last week when she posted a picture of herself and geo-located Kuala Lumpur. The former AV actress was seen posing in front of a soon-to-be-open Koi outlet and the photo caption read:
“Hello Kuala Lumpur. I still feel like I’m in MNL cos it’s still mainit (Tagalog for hot) and so many Asians!!”

Fans went cray with the knowledge and perhaps, secretly hoped that they’d be able to bump into Miss Ozawa herself. Well, if you were at The Vault KL a couple of nights ago, you might have just been able to meet her in person.
The 31-year-old actress of mixed Japanese and Canadian parentage was seen posing with a bottle of bubbly at the bar and it no doubt got us wondering, why of all the bars around town, she chose to party it up at The Vault.

Here are some reasons why we figured that Maria chose to party here:
1. It’s a 3-storey bar with a cigar lounge located on the 2nd floor.
Not all bars come equipped with a cigar lounge so the fact that this speakeasy comes with a designated space to enjoy premium cigars, makes it ultimately cooler.
2. They have localised beverages too.
Considering how it’s Maria’s first visit to Kuala Lumpur, she’s got to try some of our unique local flavours too and where better to do it than at The Vault? The Vault is known to add a Malaysian spin to their drinks. First, there was the Merdeka Raya, which is a hibiscus and pineapple laced with spice rum and coconut vodka. Now, there’s the Koh Pandan Sour, which like its name suggests, is a pandan beverage with a sour twist to it.
3. Their bartenders are pretty skillful.
Trust The Vault’s bartenders to whip up something good, including spirits, gin and tonics. They have single malt whiskeys like Hakushu, Yamazaki and Hibiki here too.
4. The Vault’s got a classic, old school feel to it.

Interior-wise, The Vault isn’t like any ordinary ol’ watering hole. They inject a little classiness to their space, which borrows influence from the prohibition era. It’s also decorated with classic decorations such as old clocks and wooden brick walls.
5. They’ve got a specific drink called the Dirty Hornytini (’nuff said!)
The Hornytini is a drink that’s bound to raise eyebrows. There isn’t much details about this drink on the World Wide Web which more so, adds an air of mystery to it. We wonder if this was one of the drinks that Maria might have tried during her recent visit. 😉
