Cafés are aplenty but there’s also a concept called ‘breakfast and juice bars’. Not all such eateries are the same but they tend to be open earlier than the average café and they have food that is not only suitable, but made specifically for our first meal of the day as well.

One such outlet is available in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur and it’s called A-Toast Breakfast and Juice Bar. Their expertise lies in providing healthy meals that are hearty and nowhere near bland. In fact, they sound to me like the perfect spot to fulfill our 2017 “get fit” resolutions without downing boring salads.

Some of their main offerings include sandwiches, toasts, triple-deckered sandwiches, french toast, tortilla wraps and even spaghetti. Sandwiches and bread in general often get a bad rep for being boring but A-Toast switches things up with flavours like Cheesy Grilled Chicken Open Sandwich, Breakfast Potato Salad + Cheesy Hashbrown Sandwich and Toast Signature Bamboo Charcoal Eggy Sandwich.

For vegetarians, you’d be glad to know that A-Toast allows for customising of flavours and you can mention to the waiters that you would prefer non-meat options. Some of the vegetarian dishes include: Peanut Butter French Toast and a Breakfast Potato Salad.

They are also conveniently located right behind a bus stop, making the eatery accessible even to those who do not drive. As KL is notorious for being a high-traffic area, the plus point of A-Toast is the fact that they are open at 6am during the weekdays. You can easily grab a bite here before heading into work bright and early, with no jam in sight.
