Last week, the brand new MRT opened its door to the public and with the announcement of free rides for a month, many Malaysians were excited to try the MRT services out.

One Malaysian who was equally excited is Ziqri.

Ziqri is a 20-year-old who has autism and he had always wanted to meet the prime minister. Earlier, he had seen a video of the prime minister aboard the MRT and had wished to board it too.

His mother explains how in his innocent mind, he thinks that if he were to take the MRT, he might meet the PM because in the video, he had seen the PM taking the MRT.

Ziqri’s adventure then began yesterday (Monday) when he finally had a chance to board the MRT. Ziqri has a tendency to run around whenever his mother brings him out and it was his mother, Hasnah’s worst nightmare when Ziqri’s younger brother, Aidel told her:

“Mama, Ziqri has gone on the train and the door is closed.”

Hasnah took to social media to post for help and with friends sharing her post, netizens soon flooded her Facebook wall with kind, supportive messages. Ziqri was later found at a TTDI MRT and Hasnah shared a Facebook post thanking the staff at the control centre of Kampung Selamat, the Polis Bantuan and everyone else who had assisted in finding Ziqri.

Upon being reunited with her dear son, Hasnah took him out for a banana leaf lunch because he had wanted it. He later went home to sleep after the long ordeal.

Hasnah ended her post, sharing, “Thank you again, from my family and I. #anaksyurgaku

The touching moment when a mother is reunited with her son just goes to show how faith in humanity is certainly restored and there really is power in social media.
