Bangsar is known to be a food haven and eateries are aplenty here. Along with the host of restaurants and cafés, there are also a multitude of dishes to choose from. Sometimes, skimming through their menu alone would be enough to give one a headache because we would most certainly be spoilt for choice.

Trying out their signature dishes would then be a safe bet. Here are 10 eateries in Bangsar and their signature dishes as per what’s recommended by past guests.

Don’t be fooled by the interior of this eatery as this is not your ordinary café that serves the typical pastas or set meals. Thirdwave Café is all about gourmet cuisine at an affordable price. Not only that, most of their dishes has a speck of vibrant colours to create the appealing, Instagram-worthy effect. They don’t use food colouring, but rather focus more on natural colours from the vegetables or fruits that they incorporate in their meals.

There is a wide range of delicious meals you can choose from but you have to try their bestseller chicken and waffles. The sous vide fried chicken leg is served with savoury cheddar waffle, drizzled with maple peanut butter and topped off with cherry tomato salsa. Besides that, the dessert, Hey Romeo is a definite must-try. The dish is a matcha dacquoise, lemon and lime sorbet, strawberry gel, chocolate sponge, elderberry tuile, hazelnut and dark choc soil served with matcha and vanilla meringue kisses.

Signature Dishes: Sous Vide Fried Chicken + Cheddar Waffle, Matcha Dacquoise.

To step inside this place is like stepping into a lush wonderland, with trees and fairy lights around to give that outdoor experience without feeling too warm. This place has the vibe of a modern interior but uses rattan chairs to emulate a down-to- earth environment too.

When it comes to food, do try out their customer favourite: crispy fish and chips. The dish has great crisp on the outside while still being moist when you slice through it. It is served with homemade sauces, sour cream and pesto sauce. Not only do they serve good food, their drinks are pretty top notch as well! Calling all meat-lovers! This casual restaurant has one prime goal in mind, and that is to serve the best pork and duck dishes on a plate. They are masters at perfecting the art of roasting and cooking their meat. Most of their tables are pretty big and it’s best to come in a group of friends or family as their portion sizes are pretty big too. After all, the more, the merrier.

Try out their BBQ Pork Ribs, which is coated with their secret BBQ sauce and grilled to perfection. The meat pulls away easily from the bones and add it with a squeeze of lime for some extra tanginess. Even though they are known for their meat, you shouldn’t ignore their spaghetti. After all, it is topped with some crunchy soft shell crab and delicious creamy salted egg sauce, which is something you won’t come across very often.

8. Bakar Bangsar

Bakar might give off the impression of a mamak but it is actually a casual fine-dining restaurant. The wait staff even have the phrase: “Burn Baby Burn”on their apron, and the walls are adorned with this quote as well. Their concept focuses on the theme of ‘burn’ and that is why there are matches on their posters and the interior is highlighted with shades of red and white colour. Truly minimalistic yet striking.

When it comes to their dishes, you must try their whole roasted lamb shoulder served with flat bread and greek yogurt. The meat is moist and tender and with that secret sauce in the mason jar, the flavour will be elevated tremendously without any gamey aftertaste. If you are a big eater, have this all for yourself. As for desserts, opt for their unusual yet delicious charcoal pavlova. This dish consists of rapsberry sorbet and has a combination of chocolate mousse, shortbread, macadamia brittle and some lovely berries.

Signature Dishes: Roasted Lamb Shoulder, Charcoal Pavlova.

9. Mario + Luigi

When one mentions Mario & Luigi, the Super Mario Bros characters come to mind, but the name alone is where the similarity with this eatery ends. The video game is colourful, but this fine dining restaurant focuses on simplicity and pure white background to achieve a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Not only that, you can also take great food pictures right at the back, with the greenery acting as ‘props’ for you.

Being an Italian restaurant, the pasta is a must-try. Opt for some squid ink spaghetti with seared squid and sundried tomatoes. When it comes to dessert, get your hands on some panna cotta which is a spoonful of delicious strawberry sorbet, with strawberries and granola that gives an extra crunch to the smooth sorbet texture.

Signature Dishes: Grilled Squid + Black Ink Spaghetti, Panna Cotta.

Bait is definitely a must to dine in at least for once. They aren’t just about the food, they’re all about giving off a great vibe too. As you enjoy your meal, there would be a DJ playing his or her tracks to liven up the atmosphere while you tuck into some sumptious food.

Bait is known for their fresh seafood, in particular, their oysters which are from UK and France. Personally, if you are into raw meals, go gor a bucketful of oysters. If you prefer having your meals cooked, go for the kilo of cooked crawfish instead. The crawfish has been poached in saffron and champagne, making it one that will certainly tantalise your tastebuds.

Signature Dishes: Fresh Oysters, Half a Kilo Crawfish Poached In Saffron + Champagne.
