Simple Plan played their first concert in 4 years last night, right here in KL, and it was a show filled with nostalgia. Every 90’s kid would know just how this band made a significant difference in their life, and their music was downright relatable to every former teen in the room.

Here are 21 feels you must have had, if you were at the SP concert last night.

1. You legit had “crew envy”.

Whether these people were helping Simple Plan through their soundchecks, or making sure their mikes sounded right, they got raw access to meet the band, and no doubt helped to make the show a success too.

2. You went with your whole 90’s crew.

You would have jio’d your entire crew to the show because there’s no one better to relive your best days with, than with those who grew up listening to the same music as you did.

3. You decked yourself in black because Simple Plan.

Black was a safe bet, and it wasn’t much of a surprise when a majority of the crowd were dressed in this colour. After all, what else would have better screamed the style of your “emo punk rock” days than this?!

4. Long waits, no prob.

The long queue for Simple Plan’s concert began from 5pm, a good 4 hours before the Simple Plan concert actually began. Still, the fans made good use of the time Instagramming their tickets because that’s what good concert-goers are supposed to do.

6. You grabbed every merch item you could before the show.

Simple Plan’s last concert in Malaysia was 4 years ago, and with such unpredictability on when they would return again, it’s only logical to stock up on their merch items, regardless of how ridiculously-priced they were.

7. The opening act got us all hyped up.

At concerts, generally fans wouldn’t pay much attention to the opening act and would wish that their set ends quicker. At the SP concert, fans were jamming to the opening act, Dva, and it helped that that they were an energetic duo too!

8. When Simple Plan finally came on, you low key weeped.

The weekend you spent memorising the bands’ song lyrics like you were preparing for an exam all led up to tonight. You’ve waited forever and a day for this, and it’s FINALLY here.

9. If you were in the front row, you needed to pinch yourself to see if this was real life.

Is this real, because if you were dreaming, you wouldn’t ever want to wake up.

10. When Shut Up came on, teenage angst was furreals.

Shut Up was practically every 90’s kids’ anthem song. When it came on, the energy was electric among the crowd and everybody yelled “Shut Up, Shut Up, Shut Up” at the top of their lungs.

11. And then Jump came on and you best be jumping too.

Jump was the track where nobody stayed motionless and Pierre made sure that we didn’t either. It didn’t matter if you were the 50-year old man in the crowd (there were even some “senior” citizens in the mix), because you’d find yourself jumping along too.

12. The band’s interaction with the crowd was on level 100.

Fanservice is not something which all musicians do on stage, but Simple Plan’s timely stops in between their tracks to interact with the crowd was one reason why we loved them for all these years. “Aku cinta padamu”, said Pierre, and we could say the same.

13. You were glad it wasn’t just all high action, and there were ballads too.

Because hey, if you didn’t need to take a breather, Pierre definitely would need one, with his high-energy antics during the show.

14. Balls, balls, balls everywhere.

When Summer Paradise came on, the band tossed about several beach balls and the crowd helped to keep the ball afloat by tossing it around the venue. It was a cheeky #throwback by the band too, considering how one of their very first albums is entitled “No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls”.

15. This was our signature pose.

Heart signs aside, this was our signature pose for the concert.

16. You would do anything to make the night last forever and a day.

As the night drew to an end, you wished that the encore wouldn’t come on too soon, because that would signal the end of the best night ever, and you would do anything for it to last.

17. At the end of the day, no one knows your life better than this band.

Welcome To My Life is a significant theme song for the former teens in the room, and it was one of the songs that resonated the most with the crowd that night.

18. And no one knows the world better than this band, because their songs are still relatable till today.

The lyrics of the song, Crazy, goes something like this:

Tell me what’s wrong with society
When everywhere I look, I see
Young girls dying to be on TV
They won’t stop till they’ve reached their dreams

Even though the song was written ages ago, it’s still so #relatable today.

19. *screaming internally* if you got a shot with the band.

Not many had a chance to take a shot with the band, but those who did were downright lucky.

20. Because tonight, you’re just a kid.

Being a kid again for a night was the exact feels that every Simple Plan fan got.

21. And no one can expect you to be perfect. Even your favourite band says it’s okay not to be.

You’re sorry you can’t be perfect, but at least tonight was.
