Held at The Gardens Hotel in October, the 30th edition of KLIAVS was audiophiles and videophiles’ dreams come true.

For the uninitiated, KLIAVS is the KL International Audio Visual Show and it brings together top names in the audiovisual industry.

Even though we’re no experts in the subject matter, we still had a blast exploring the event, and here are some of the cool brands with gadgets and gizmos that caught our eyes.

1. CINEMAGICA by GOLDENDUCK

Did someone say home theatres? Well, here’s a team that specialises in creating them.

Presenting CINEMAGICA is GOLDENDUCK , a leading cinema integrator in Southeast Asia. These professionals now bring their thorough understanding of studio and cinema to the home sphere, allowing families and their friends to enjoy experiences that they would be able to get in real cinemas, in private.

At KLIAVS, CINEMAGICA had various home theatre setups, and we got to experience all of them. Some of them are meant for more casual living room setups, while others were designed for specialised cinema rooms. In any case, all of them offered superb and truly fascinating sound experiences.

2. LYDEG

Having just debuted in Malaysia, LYDEG describes itself as a corporation specialising in high-quality accessories. The company is a result of a partnership with a United Kingdom entity and a Malaysian one.

At KLIAVS, they showcased their star product, which is an RCA booster by the name of LYDEG OCEIL.

RCA adapters ensure consistent and legible connections between audio devices, resulting in a significant improvement in sound performance. By offering precise and accurate signal transmission, it enhances subtlety and realism in audio experience.

3. Pete’s Car Audio

Also present that day at KLIAVS was a Tesla, decked out in Focal INSIDE audio system.

Hailing from France, Focal is known for its top-of-the-range speakers and hi-fi equipment. Meanwhile, INSIDE is their range of car audio equipment, catered to drivers who wish to replace their car’s original system with a hi-fi quality Plug & Play solution.

The outfitted Tesla was thanks to Pete’s Car Audio, a local car stereo installer that deals with various systems. We got to try out the audio system ourselves, and let’s just say it was bumpin’.

4. Lu Kang Audio

KLIAVS saw participation from various Taiwanese organisations, one of which was Lu Kang Audio.

Lu Kang Audio is said to comprise a father-son duo, and the company has been established for over 40 years. They initially started as a distributor and dealer for various audio brands.

Eventually, though, they started to realise there were no speakers in the market that “touched” them, so they began designing their own. This led to the first generation Lu Kang No. 1 then also the Lu Kang No. 2, before the current Spoey speakers.

5. Samsung

A brand that doesn’t need any introduction, Samsung had some TVs shown off at KLIAVs.

One of the products included there was the 85-inch model of Samsung’s The Frame, which is supposed to mimic a picture frame. It was interesting to finally see this viral product in person, though we wish we could’ve seen it on the wall, where The Frame best belongs.

6. Sony Bravia

Sony’s array of Bravia TVs were present as well, complete with its sound system comprising a soundbar and subwoofer.

The highlight was the 85-inch Bravia 9, which is one of its latest releases. With crisp images and powerful sounds, we can see it being great for movie nights.

7. TCL

Think you know big? Well, here’s something even bigger.

China’s TCL had some TVs on display at KLIAVS as well. Their star of the show was a stunning 115-inch TV dubbed the World’s Largest QD-Mini Led TV.

It was a treat to see this in person with its vibrant visuals and sheer size.

8. Unique Melody

Hailing from China, Unique Melody is known for their Hi-Fi earbuds.

It’s said that the founders actually started off as individuals working in the hearing aid business, and thus know custom moulds, ear anatomy, and BA drivers very well.

They carry a wide array of different buds, ensuring there’s something for every ear.

9. ZMFheadphones

ZMFheadphones specialise in heirloom quality wood headphones crafted in the United States, resulting in gorgeous timber-toned headphones.

We got to try some of the headphones, and even though I’m not an audiophile, I liked hearing all the nuances and differences between each product.

10. McIntosh

Known for crafting high-end home audio sound systems, McIntosh is not a speaker brand like I initially thought, but rather specialises in audio amplifiers, stereo tuners, loudspeakers, turntables, music streamers, processors, and various other audio products.

They may be best known for their iconic blue Watt output meter, globally recognised as a symbol of quality home audio. It was pretty cool to see a whole setup of all its output meters flicker as the music thrummed.

11. Entreq

At first glance, I had no idea what Entreq’s table at KLIAVS was possibly displaying, as it just looked like slabs of wood.

Established in 2002, Entreq produces unique “Energy Transforming Equipment” that lowers the noise floor to realise significant improvements in the performance of audio equipment.

12. Hym

Specialising in all-in-one turntables, Hym was first founded in 2015 in Taipei.

With turntables seeming somewhat old school, it was interesting to see how Hym pushed the envelope with their unique and modern designs.

Spanning four floors, there were definitely way more audio and visual brands present than we could fully explore and cover. It made for a super fun event, even for people who aren’t exactly the most well-versed in all things audiovisual.

It’s certainly an event I would consider tuning into again when they set up shop again next year.

Above all, it’s awesome to see how KLIAVS has continued to grow and thrive over the past 30 years, pioneering and uplifting the audiovisual industry and community in Malaysia.
