What’s the difference between beautiful food and works of art?
For Joshua Tan Yi-Shaun, probably none, as beautiful food is art.
And that’s what you’ll get at the 22-year-old art collector’s new café meets art gallery in PJ—beautiful food and works of art.
Walking into Potter’s Café, you’d find stunning art pieces adorning the walls, making for the perfect segue into the desserts and coffees that are pretty enough on its own, even without any coffee art.
One can easily tell that the food here has not been rushed and have been worked at lovingly.
You’ll see it in the way each slice of orange is carefully placed on a blanket of pure white cream or how the largest fresh strawberries are plopped onto a chocolate cake.
As we savour meals with our eyes first, it makes perfect sense then that Potter’s Café takes the time to create beautiful food that the camera, in return, would love.
The same can be said for the coffees which are served in white cups reminiscent of what you’d find at an English tea house.
And after you’re done feeding your body with the numerous types of cakes and drinks served here, you can then feed your soul with the pieces of art collected by Joshua and his mom.
In fact, in an article by The Sun Daily, Joshua shared that his favourite works are abstract ones, so that’s what you’d find most at the art gallery.
Take the time to expand your knowledge on art and leave, having known that your mind has been enriched in one way or another.
For those who have always wanted to pay an art gallery a visit, they can opt to drop by Potter’s Café in PJ.
And if you’re lost as to what to order, the personal recommendation by the folks of the café itself, is the Lavender Earl Grey Latte—served in, of course, the most beautiful cup that’s pretty much a work of art on its own.
