With a wealth of atas dining options located on the uppermost floors of Pavilion, one premium restaurant chooses to set itself apartthey’re conveniently located right next to the food court on the first floor of Pavilion.

Newly launched on the 30th of September, Nice Catch is a Malaysian-born seafood restaurant with an international appeal.

Stepping foot into this eatery, you’d be greeted by a stunning golden display of a school of fish. It’s indicative of the premium seafood gourmet you’re about to enjoy.

The Nice Catch team are inspired by their travels across the region and that’s how they’ve put together a menu consisting of Canadian and Caribbean lobsters and Norwegian salmon, just to name a few. Not to mention, the ingredients are also freshly air-flown weekly to Malaysia.

What takes each dish to the next level though, is the bold homemade sauces that Nice Catch prides itself for.

Nice Catch’s signature dish, the Spicy Seafood Feast (prices start at RM99) is served with a Hot and Spicy Lemongrass sauce inspired by the flavours of Southeast Asia.

The seafood feast is an aromatic medley of seafood and vegetables served with buttery fried mantous, perfect for dipping up every last drop of the sauce with.

The Golden Squid & Salsa (RM27) features flash-fried Korean Squid with Ginger and Dried Chillies over Seasoned Onion Rings plus Crispy Basil Leaves served with a warm, Smokey Salsa Sauce.

What’s distinct about this platter is the warm salsa which complements the crispy, slightly chewy squid. It makes a great choice as a starter dish for sharing.

The Crispy Battered Fish And Friends (prices start at RM35) features tender Fish Fillet fried to golden perfection with Crunchy Prawns and Chips, served with a side of Fresh Salad and tangy Grapefruit Tartar sauce.

Where Fish and Chips tend to be heavily battered and has a floury consistency, it’s not present with this dish. What you get instead is a bang for your buck because you’ll get 2 proteins on a single platter.

When tasting this recently at a review, the DiscoverKL team collectively agreed that the meal was good on its own, even without the addition of the tartar sauce. However, if you’d like to add a rich, creamy taste to your meal, feel free to dip generously.

The Cheesy Seafood Bake with Corn Dodgers (RM55) is a platter of air-flown Norwegian Salmon, Korean Squid and Zucchini, baked in a homemade Tomato Coulis and topped with Mozzarella Cheese. It is served with a side of Corn Dodgers.

The Corn Dodgers are hands down the star of this meal. When paired with the oozing Mozarella cheese, it’s the perfect combo and is a recipe for comfort food.

What’s endearing about Nice Catch is the fact that they’re not entering the blossoming F&B market blind.

They are instead bringing something new to the table by putting a spin to well-loved seafood classics. Take the Spicy Seafood Feast for example. It’s got the spiciness that Malaysians love, paired with mantou, which is a classic carb often enjoyed with Chinese dishes.

That in itself is a marriage between East and West flavours and what we think is a recipe for success.

Other than that, their prices are actually quite affordable in comparison to the other more high end eateries in Pavilion Shopping Mall. Their servings are also relatively large so when dining in a group, the average cost per pax is surprisingly reasonable.

Sounds like a ‘nice catch’ to add to Pavilion’s repertoire of eateries, don’t you think? 😉
