Recently, there has been a viral video circulating around the web about a cat getting hit pretty hard and it garnered over 251k views and over a thousand shares.

In the video, the cat can be seen sleeping before being woken up by its owner repeatedly hitting it. It kept meowing continuously after each hit and struggled to escape.

The video was posted by a Facebook user named Ibraheem Sani, who captioned it with “So this is considered being playful with your cat? I feel like it’s on the verge of abuse. The poor cat is asleep and it is then being hit. What a stupid woman.”

Netizens were outraged about the situation.

One noted, Ish ish. Pity that this cat has a crazy owner. It must feel sad to have an owner that likes to hit it. What a stupid woman. I hope someone would hit her back.”

Another noted, “I hit my cat playfully too while it sleeps, but I don’t smack it this hard.”

Interestingly, this might not be where the story ends, for there appears to be something far more sinister behind the situation. Ibraheem Sani posted several image screenshots alongside his post which could reveal something different altogether.

Apparently, there is a Twitter user by the name of @InjangNation who had tweeted out a request stating, “I’d like a video of a cat being smacked.”

Another Twitter user, @FaraZubay (who is allegedly the woman in the viral cat video) posted in reply: “I will do as you say.”

It appears to be that @FaraZubay was merely doing as per @InjangNation’s request to hit the cat and post a video about it on social media. Should this be the case, it reveals a deeper, darker part of the web where people are requesting for such sinister videos and there are those who would do the bidding.

What are your thoughts on this matter?
