Shakeaway is finally here in Malaysia! Hailing all the way from the UK, they specialise in milkshakes which feature exclusive and tasty ingredients.

Shakeaway Malaysia has over 180 items on the menu. In terms of milkshakes, it is broken down into a range of categories including chocolatey, cakey and fit & healthy.

Tan Sui Li, Shakeaway’s marketing director, told Discover KL that making a milkshake is indeed a very interesting process. It took years for her to finalise the recipes on the menu as well as to perfect the taste. In fact, she herself has tasted all 180 and more shakes to ensure that they are all up to standard!

To order a milkshake here, you would first have to choose between the regular (RM14.80) and large sizes (RM17.80). Next, pick your flavours. There’s the classic range which includes sweety, fruity, biscuity and chocolatey. Some notable bestsellers in this category include Dave, which is a mixture of ferrero rocher and kinder bueno with crumbled flakes on top, as well as Darren which is a white kinder bueno milkshake with marshmallows and further topped off with mini oreos.

Alternatively, go big and try their premium luxury range instead which includes sinfully decadent flavours like belgian white chocolate, lindt 85% dark chocolate and toblerone milk.

Shakeaway also prides themselves in their must-try Millionaire’s Milkshake, which is essentially made up of Lindt 85% dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts topped with whipped cream and real 23% carat edible gold flakes. Consuming this would certainly make you feel like a millionaire indeed!

Interestingly, each Shakeaway outlet worldwide has localised flavours of their own, and Malaysia too has its own flavours like durian, kacang tumbuk, milo, pulut inti and teh tarik. The must-try in the localised category would definitely be Haris, which is a combination of pulut inti, teh tarik and kacang tanah gula!

Still, nothing beats the one flavour which is on the opposite end of the spectrum. While all the aforementioned milkshake flavours are sweet, there is one specific savoury milkshake flavour called Wicked Wendy. The drink features a bizarre combination of frozen peas, pickled onions and vanilla ice cream! It tastes like a warm bowl of pea soup and is definitely an acquired taste.

To top off the wide list of items on the menu, with 180+ to be exact, Shakeaway also offers frozen yoghurts like the Amelia, which is a low-calorie option featuring mangoes. They even have oven-baked fries if you’re looking to have a savoury side with your sweet treats.
