Recently, there has been a picture circulating around social media regarding petrol prices.

According to a Facebook page by the name of Bojio Buddy, a person named Erna had penned out a price comparison between both RON 95 and RON 97 fuels. She deduced that RON 97 is more affordable.

Based on the picture above, the price calculation for RON 95 and RON 97 shows an almost RM2.50 price difference per day of driving. Although RON 95 is currently priced at RM2.10 and RON 97 at RM 2.40, the social media user discovered that RON 97 was better for her 30km commute to and from work.

She also added a note stating that 1 liter of RON 97 is priced at RM2.40 and if you request at the counter for RM50 worth of petrol, you will receive 20.8 liter worth. However, if you request for 20 liters at the counter, you will only have to pay RM48. It is the social media user’s personal tip on saving money for petrol consumption.

There has been a longstanding battle between which fuel is better and more affordable for Malaysians. There are also those who pump RON 97 as they believe that it would boost engine efficiency and performance. However, it totally depends on personal preference and it boils down to the way a person drives (e.g. whether they tend to speed often), and other factors.
