Gridz Café is an eatery which recently opened its doors at Taman Danau Desa, KL. It is located on the second floor, above Laundry Lounge.

The name of the eatery was interestingly enough inspired by a movie. “We were actually watching the movie Tron when trying to figure out a name for the café, and the movie said something about the “GRID” where all are connected in one place. So since our cuisine is Asian Fusion whereby we combine different tastes from different cultures,  we ended up choosing the name Gridz Café,” founder, Richmond Yeo, relayed to Discover KL.

Richmond leveraged wisely on his experience in hotel management and business management which he undertook during his tertiary education, to form Gridz. His experience also extends to working with an event company in Abu Dhabi, serving the role of assistant head chef at The Barn, 1 Mont Kiara, as well as being the branch manager for Healthland Wellness Center. With the knowledge he had gained, Richmond finally decided to venture into starting up his own café.

At Gridz, you can expect Western and Asian meals alike and they have an endless amount of options to choose from too. From cakes to macarons, pasta to fruit juices, burgers to wraps, and freakshakes to muffins, you’d find yourself spoilt for choice. Their meals are also priced affordably. For instance, main meals such as a plate of aglio olio is only RM11.

Desserts on the other hand are priced between RM2-RM8.

If you’re more of a tea person, you’d be glad to know that you can indulge in 20 different flavours at Gridz. There’s the Globe Amaranth to Easter Lily, and Purple Rose to Sweet Osmanthus. It might not be your typical tea selection, but what better time to venture outside of your comfort zone and get 3 different types of flower teas to try, for only RM8?

As for Richmond’s personal recommendation when dining at Gridz?

“I would recommend the Nyonya Pasta as it is a combination of Western and Nyonya Spices, and also the Porkie Pine which a lot of customers give positive feedback on the flavours and colours,” he said.
