Watching our Malaysian Olympic medalists on the television during the Rio games was a treat and the experience was as up close and personal to the athletes as we could possibly get. This time around, 3 of our homegrown medallists will be appearing on the big screen in a local Chinese film set to be released during Chinese New Year 2017. The Olympians who will be making their acting debut in the movie would be Chan Peng Soon, Goh Liu Ying and Goh V Shem.

The silver medalists got cameo roles in the movie produced by local production company, Asia’s Tropical Films. The movie titled Goodbye Mr Loser will see Peng Soon and Liu Ying playing the role of a young couple and that would certainly be interesting to see, considering how they definitely have a very good professional chemistry on court.

Did you know that this is in fact Peng Soon’s very first acting experience? He mentioned that he enjoys the new experience as long it does not interfere with his badminton schedule alongside Liu Ying. Liu Ying too was thrilled to have the opportunity to land the acting role.

On the other hand, V Shem, also a doubles silver medalist alongside Tan Wee Kiong, will be acting as the cousin of the main character in the film.

Discover KL wishes the trio success both on the badminton court as well as on the silver screen. The movie begun filming in mid-September this year and is scheduled to be aired in early 2017. Goodbye Mr Loser also happens to be directed by the same man who brought films such as Ice Kacang Puppy Love, Leilo Popo, The Wedding Diary 1 and 2, as well as King of Mahjong to the silver screen, so Goodbye Mr Loser would certainly be one to look out for in 2017!
