Sinking one’s teeth into a golden dish is pretty much a glimpse into the life of royalty. While we all can’t be kings and queens for a day, our meals can certainly live up to that standard. First, there was the gold leaf ice cream which aptly rocked the dessert world. Now, there’s the gold-dusted mooncake by Chynna, Hilton KL.

The snowskin mooncake which is dusted with an abundance of gold dust is pumped with a generously decadent filling in its core. Sinking a knife into the belly of the mooncake would then produce a rich Valrhona Chocolate filling. The mooncake is priced at RM32 and it is Chynna’s 2016 Signature mooncake, simply known as ‘Imperial by Chynna’.

The lavish dessert is not the only thing that the skillful hands of Chynna’s culinary crew is capable of. Artsy mooncakes seem to be their forte and they enter a whole new level of #foodporn when it comes to crafting the Mooncake Festival centrepiece. It rightfully feeds the eyes prior to happily finding a sweet spot in one’s tummy.

Gold-dusted mooncakes aside, you’d find pastel mooncakes in bright colours and tie-dye mooncakes at Chynna too.

The dish which is a staple during the Mid Autumn Festival is eaten all-year round, but it will certainly gain in popularity come mid-September when the festival will be observed in Malaysia. The gold-dusted versions are priced steeper than regular ol’ store-bought mooncakes but if you’re looking to add a royal touch to your celebration this year, the gold-dusted mooncake by Chynna is one option to look into.
