Bandar Sunway is known to be a food haven and eateries are aplenty here. Along with the host of restaurants and cafés, there are also a multitude of dishes to choose from. Sometimes, skimming through their menu alone would be enough to give one a headache because we would most certainly be spoilt for choice.

Trying out their signature dishes would then be a safe bet. Here are 10 eateries in Bandar Sunway and their signature dishes as per what’s recommended by past guests.

1. Softcore

They claim to specialise in molten lava cakes, among other typical food stuffs, and they definitely deliver. Their most popular molten cakes are the dark chocolate molten cake and the salted egg yolk molten cake. If you are a green tea fan, which everyone seems to be nowadays, there’s also the matcha flavour. You can also find savoury food there; I personally find the grilled cheese sandwich really good.

2. myBurgerLab

It is quite jarring to find out that three founders of myBurgerLab have had no culinary background before they opened up their first shop. Still, first day of opening and they sold out, it’s quite a feat. For those who have been craving for The Ultraman or wanting to try out their Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang creation, there is a myBurgerLab that can be found in Sunway, just outside Sunway University.

Signature Dishes: The Ultraman 3.0, Animal

3. Underground Société

Coffee Société has done it again. There are currently three cafés under the Coffee Société arm, and Underground Société is one of them. It’s almost like a speakeasy café, because you won’t be able to notice it at first glance. When you find it, you’ll think that you’re not in the right place when you go in through the entrance. Huh. Guess they have a reason to call themselves Underground.

Signature Dishes: Nutella Latte, Lamb Rack

4. Bite & Pull

Situated in what we Sunway-ians call the Sunway Metro Business Park, Bite & Pull specialty is in their toast, where they allow you to make your toasts in accordance to your choice of toast or croissant, meat, dressing, and sauce. For example, you can choose an 8-inch toast, opt for chilled salmon, top it with bananas, and then finish it off with teriyaki sauce – there you have it, a toast of your own making.

Signature Dishes: Sparkling Mint Citrus, Hawaiian Chicken Pizza

5. Hana Dining + Sake Bar

A Japanese bar is pretty hard to come by in Klang Valley, but here we are with one right in Sunway Pyramid. Hana Dining + Sake Bar’s menu consists of food items that serve as marriages between the Japanese and Western influences in terms of culinary. Even their drink has hints of both sides of the hemisphere, offering the bold diners a taste of what sake with whiskey tastes like.

Signature Dishes: Salmon Teriyaki, Salmon on Fire

It’s funny how everyone still loves steamboat when Malaysia is already such a warm country. 798 Shabu Shabu has always been a magnet for steamboat loving people, but it’s not just because of their all-you-can-eat policy – it’s also because of the way you can enjoy steamboat here, which is that each person gets their own pot, meaning that you get to put whatever you want in the pot without worrying about other people’s preferences.

Signature Dishes: Pork Slice, Lamb Slice, Beef Slice

Since their opening, Brotz N.19 has been seeing a steady stream of loyal customers, all vying for their special desserts that occur at random times. Plus, the environment isn’t so bad either – for one, this is a café that actually plays good music! When you’re there, you must try out their Big Breakfast which consists of scrambled eggs, baked beans, sausage, bacon, mushrooms and tomato slices.

8. Garlic Roasted Chicken Rice Shop

A classic, a legend, and a shop that every student is willing to queue up for almost an hour just for that one taste of their magnificent chicken rice. It’s not that this is the best chicken rice shop in the world, but there is just something about it that just drives everyone back to their overcrowded shop, risking sweat and tardiness. Perhaps we will only be satisfied once we’ve sunk our teeth into their mouthwatering chicken.

9. After Black

This place is considered as one of the classier cafés in Sunway with a pricier menu and higher-end interior. But the price comes with value – the food is never below standard and the people are always friendly. Based on past experience, the wait staffs are pretty attentive, always making sure that customers are comfortable and enjoying their meal. And the rustic atmosphere makes for a good place to take your OOTD too. 😛

In case you are in Sunway and you have no idea what you would like to eat, just go to Rock Café – it will never do you wrong. Rock Café is a hawker centre and a beehive for all Sunway students. You will never see this place without students, no matter what time it is. The food options there also vary, including bak kut teh, Arabic dishes, Chinese fried rice, and mamak stall food. This is also the gathering place for those who want to watch a soccer game.
