根据报导，本地生产的烈酒将在12月15号开始涨价，涨幅大约150%。大马酒庄酒商公会透露，百分百纯酒精的国产税，将从原本每公升24令吉，调涨到60令吉。
他解释，24令吉包括15%附加稅，但政府调涨国产稅达150%后就不会再有附加稅。其中涉及涨价的是国內生产的烈酒类商品，进口烈酒不受影响，酒精浓度达12%或以上的酒即为烈酒。
顏振泉指出，过于惊人的涨幅必会引起国内假酒精问题变严重，国内酒商商业将会受重挫。目前，马来西亚酒精税是全球第三高，仅次于纳威和新加坡。
另外，有消息指出卫生部拟在2017年12月1日起，将全面停止售卖半支和须古庄的烈酒，无疑是对酒商的双重打击。
