A Facebook post recently went viral and it was regarding how social media user Zainudin Ariff Hasan shared how if Muslims have a plan to head to the A Famosa Water Theme Park in Malacca, they should cancel their plans first as the whole place had been splashed with “Holy Water Tokong”.

He then urged the Majlis Agama Islam Melaka to verify if him and his kids need to be cleansed as they had bathed in the water which had been contaminated.

The post is also accompanied by 2 videos of individuals from a Buddhist association splashing water around the theme park.

Netizens shared their two cents on the Facebook post which had garnered more than 5000 reactions and upwards of 15,000 shares. One user noted: “Its just a frigging water! Sheesh..”

Another said: “Hahaha stupid. (You’re) making a joke of yourself! Come on lah, who knows what is in the bottle. It could be water from a lake. Hahaha.”

It has since been verified by the Malacca Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) that the water used was in fact “plain water” supplied by A Famosa Resort to the Buddhist association that held their event there.

JAIM’s chief enforcement officer Rahimin Bani further added to Sinar Harian, “It’s an annual ritual performed by the resort to ask for goodness, abundance of wealth and security in accordance with the Buddhist beliefs. They only use plain water supplied by the resort and there was nothing mixed into the water, just some prayers were read.”

What are your thoughts on the matter?
