“Chap Fan” or mixed rice is a staple Malaysian dish and the fact that all the dishes have been prepared in advance, makes the meal a quick one as well. It also allows the customer a chance to pick and choose the amount of dishes that they prefer.

It is priced economically and is the ideal choice especially for students or those who prefer spending less on meals which are equally great-tasting. Most chap fan stalls offer pretty much the same types of dishes and if you’re looking to treat yourself with more selections, why not try Hong Sang Restaurant in Taman Muda? They’ve got more than 100 dishes for you to choose from!

In Taman Muda, Ampang, there are countless Chinese mix-riced stalls but one stands out for being a stall with options galore and you would be able to fix yourself a decent meal for below RM10, depending on which dishes you choose to pile your plate with.

Hong Sang Restaurant is touted as one of the tastiest ‘chap fan’ stalls in the neighbourhood, and we could see just why!

On top of having a wide variety, the restaurant also gives each customer a chance to fill up a plastic cup with Chinese tea and a bowl with some soup, after picking out your own plate of meal! That way, you get to save up on drinks as well.

At Hong Sang Restaurant, expect anything from tofu, all kinds of greens, poultry, seafood and various other dishes with different cooking styles. Hong Sang Restaurant serves both lunch and dinner and they could get really busy during these hours, so it’s best to go during their off-peak hours between 2pm-5pm.

For every plate, you will be charged based on the amount and type of dishes you took. As usual, poultry, fish and meat would cost higher as compared to vegetables, so if you’re aiming for a cheaper plate, pile up on those greens instead.

If you are ambitious enough, go ahead and spend some time trying all of their dishes out. With such a huge variety, you might even spend up to a month just returning to try out all of their dishes.
