If you’re a lover of all things cheesecake, you must have heard about the incredibly popular Pablo cheese tarts from Japan. The ooey, gooey cheese filling of the tart makes for quite an impressive Instagram photo (as apparent by the thousands of results that show up when searching on the platform), and its taste has even left people dreaming about it and itching to have more.
Good news for you, because Pablo Cheesetart will be opening a branch right here in Malaysia! Now us KL-ites who can’t afford to travel to Japan can have a taste of this dreamy dessert right here in our city.
Pablo has been known to attract long, winding queues at all hours of the day due to the popularity of their cheese tarts, and most people do not leave disappointed. With 20 outlets already opened in their native Japan, and two other outlets in Asia, this new opening in Malaysia represents their first outlet in South East Asia (Aren’t we lucky!).
Often described as having the taste of cheesecake with the texture of custard, the perfect pairing of crispy pastry crust with wonderfully balanced, creamy filling has people from all over the world singing Pablo’s praises. These cheese tarts have even become somewhat of a tourist attraction in their hometown of Osaka.
What makes them different from other cheese tart cafés is the unique, fluffy texture of their cheese filling, which, not unlike steaks, can be cooked ‘rare’ or ‘medium’. Rare tarts will ooze liquid filling out of the shell, similar to lava cakes, while medium-cooked tarts hold their shape, are firmer and more velvety.
Their wide range of flavours is also a point of attraction for the crowds, from the classic cheese, to chocolate, strawberry, four cheeses, and even seasonal flavours like matcha green tea—which will be available on our shores too!

But if you’re not a fan of rich, gooey desserts like this one, worry not for Pablo also has traditional, New York-style cheesecakes, cheese soft-serve ice cream, and even cheese shakes!

There is no exact date as of yet, but Pablo’s new branch will be in One Utama, and is reported to be open its doors sometime in October. Be prepared to brave the crowds to get your hands on this highly-recommended Japanese dessert. You’ll know why it’s so popular once you take your first bite!
