Exes. They were all a part of your story and whether you’re in good terms with them now or otherwise, they were there for a reason. These guys taught you a lesson in love and there were very specific reasons as to why you loved them all.

Whether they were gamers, photographers or jocks, these are the 10 types of Malaysian guys you might have dated in the past and why you couldn’t resist their charms.

1. The Player

He’s the popular guy and the definition of a “bad boy”. He smooth talks his way out of any sticky situation and he has a charming personality.

You loved him because even when you know you’ll risk a broken heart at the end, you simply cannot resist him. He’s like a magnet that draws you close and there is an attraction between the both of you that you cannot deny.

2. The Entrepreneur

He reads Vulcan Post daily (it’s our sister publication after all) and is constantly on his phone. Whether it’s an email that he just needs to send out or a call that he simply has to take, he’s inseparable from his mobile device.

You loved him because he’s super gung ho about his business and employees. Sure, there are days when he might reschedule a date because of a last minute meeting, but you knew that at the very core, your man was hardworking and meticulous.

3. The Gamer

He’s someone who’d rather spend weekends going through a new game he’s just bought than to go out. He knows all the coolest games and he’ll intro you to the best ones.

He’s someone you could slay dragons and kick zombie asses with and you can always depend on him for a PvP gaming session. You’ll discuss with him which games to purchase and even when it’s pricey, you knew that there’s always someone to split the cost with.

4. The Nerd

He’s smart and you can always count on him to share interesting facts with you, whether it’s about the space, nature or life, depending on what his interest is.

He’s always up for a good discussion about life and you loved how he taught you new things every day. He was the guy you would spend hours playing board games with or watching documentaries together. You always leave feeling a little wiser after spending some time with him.

5. The Sports Enthusiast

He’s always at the gym or out playing football with the guys. You might’ve been annoyed by the fact that he’s always so sweaty and is forever in his sports gear, but you enjoyed seeing how passionate he is about working out and getting fit.

You loved him because he’s always dragging you out on an early morning hike and you’ll wonder what you’re doing at the top of a hill at 5 o’clock in the morning. But when you looked over at him, you realised that there’s no one else you’d rather spend watching a beautiful sunrise with.

6. The Motivational Speaker

He’s always prepping a speech or watching motivational speakers on YouTube. Every time you talk with him, you leave feeling refreshed because he has a different way of seeing things and always seems to see the silver lining in everything.

You may tire of his enthusiasm but you knew that he just wanted you to be the best version of yourself. He’s the guy you could rely on through the darkest storms and you loved him for that.

7. The Easygoing Dude

He’s an “anything goes” kinda guy who doesn’t complain much about anything. He listens to all your problems and willingly goes to the mall with you, even when he knows that he would wind up carrying tons of heavy shopping bags.

You could rely on his honesty and he’d tell you straight up if there was a problem that needs to be addressed. At the same time, he’s caring and enjoys pampering you with a massage every once in a while with a good quality massage oil.

8. The Party Animal

He loves going out and lives for the Friday nights where he’d mostly be seen clubbing or out at rave parties. Zouk is his middle name and partying is his sport.

You loved how he’s always bringing you to the coolest clubs and it was so much fun dancing the night away with him. He’s also introduced you to the greatest deejays and he always seemed to know everybody, which made you feel important because you’re a part of his clan.

9. The Animal Lover

He has a soft spot for animals, whether for his own pets or for strays. He enjoys looking after them and it displays his nurturing quality which you find endearing.

What’s not to love about him? The way he cared for animals shows that he is capable of looking after others well and he wasn’t selfish with his time nor efforts either.

10. The Photographer

He’s never without his DSLR and even when he is, he’d always have his phone in hand. He enjoyed shooting the little moments in life and you were always the focal point of his camera.

You loved dressing up and having your portrait shots taken by him. He made you feel glamorous and he always, always knew your good side. Even after things are over between the both of you, you’ll look back on the photos and reminisce.
