They started off their food business in June 4, 2016 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Now, New York folks and Malaysians alike would be able to enjoy classic Malaysian flavours in one of the most iconic cities in the world, and we can’t help but feel our hearts swelling with pride.

Called The Malaysian Project, the core team are made up of born and raised Malaysians, with a love for local cuisine and an instinctive desire to introduce it to the people of New York.

In an Instagram post, the team shared, “When we first had the idea of running a vendor project, we asked ourselves: “What Malaysian food has a strong sentimental bond with us throughout our life?” And all of us answered “Kaya” at the same time.”

Besides Kaya, you can also get Ramly Burgers at The Malaysian Project.

The classic egg-wrapped Ramly burger recently achieved instant worldwide virality when it was featured on INSIDER Food.

At the time of writing, the video has already achieved upwards of 13k shares and we’re not surprised. After all, who could resist a video showcasing the mouthwatering Ramly burgers? In fact, prior to the video, the burgers were also featured in the New York Times newspaper.

It’s great to see Malaysian food being represented globally and what more, in classic food trucks too! The Malaysian Project has thus far made waves with their classic local cuisine and even won 3rd place at Brunch Con New York. Currently, they can be found at selected festivals around New York City.
