AniManGaki has been around for a decade now and it is one of the biggest annual ACG (anime, comics & games) events in Malaysia.

It is organised by fans for fans and every year, you’re bound to see a couple of Cosplayers who go above and beyond to Cosplay as iconic characters which aren’t necessarily pertaining to any anime. This year was no different.

We’ve rounded up some of the noteworthy Cosplayers at the recent AniManGaki 2017, which went down last weekend.

1. Raja Bomoh

Shiro Tan was photographed several times throughout the day as he Cosplayed as the Raja Bomoh. His Cosplay outfit was simple enough but it was the 2 large coconuts he used as props, that really stood out.

2. Datuk Vida

Complete with the elaborate makeup, signature pink headscarf and diamante tiara, this Cosplayer received a lot of attention for her Datuk Vida cosplay that was totally on point. She even had the signature pout and we wouldn’t be surprised if she broke out into the classic I Am Me song by Datuk Vida herself, during the weekend-long fiesta.

3. Fidget Spinner

Hands down one of the most iconic moments in 2017 was the introduction of the fidget spinner. Designed for those who are constantly fidgeting with their hands (hence its name), the fidget spinner has assimilated into pop culture with netizens posting videos of themselves “choreographing” moves around the fidget spinner. And that’s why we think this Cosplayer’s depiction of the fidget spinner deserves a place on this list.

4. T-Rex

You can’t go wrong when you’re dressed up as a T-Rex and that’s exactly what this cosplayer did. With absolutely no makeup or accessories needed (besides the costume itself), we can totally see why this Cosplayer went with this look. ?

5. Spongebob Squarepants

Ahh, who doesn’t love a Spongebob cosplayer every now and then? This Cosplayer went all out with his Spongebob cosplay, even including the Nickelodeon character’s spatula and Gary the snail as part of his props.

So, which was your fave Cosplayer from AniManGaki 2017 and were you impressed by the lengths that these Cosplayers went to in order to stand out? Let us know in the Facebook comment section!
