Back in October, The Roof introduced the very first helipad cinema experience in Malaysia. They screened movie classics including Austin Powers, Up, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Interestingly, Tim Hamilton, Helipad Cinema’s Events Organiser shared with Discover KL that the first edition had tickets being sold out within 3 days!

“Many people have been emailing us asking when there will be more events, so that’s why Helipad Cinema 2 is back,” Tim said.

It was initially meant to be a one-off event, but judging from how over 500+ people showed up for the 10 consecutive nights, it was pretty obvious how much Malaysians adored the experience.

Now, with its second edition, Helipad Cinema will be showing 10 different movies from November 29-December 9. The event is in line with The Roof’s third anniversary and they will be showing movies from the years 1993, 2003 and 2013. Among some of the movies which will be screened are: Finding Nemo, Charlie’s Angel, The Conjuring, Jurassic Park and Lost In Translation.

On top of having a lineup of awesome movies, expect #HappyHour deals, beer, snacks including a free flow of popcorn, and kicking back on Doof beanbags. It’s best to purchase the tickets earlier too to avoid disappointment. Tim’s predictions are Jurassic Park and Love Actually getting sold out first as they are movies that many are interested in watching.

With the rooftop movie experience, all movies begin from 8pm onwards and each ticket is priced at RM55 per person. Even when the movies begin at 8pm, be sure to head there earlier to enjoy the stunning rooftop sunset view.

It’s clear that Malaysians enjoy the experience because there is no such event in our country. This even trumps drive-in cinemas! Tim noted, “It is a truly unique experience – watching a Reel Classic movie, under the stars all the way up, on a converted helipad bar. It’s fun, exciting and different to other nights out with friends or a loved one.”
