Have you ever tried putting on an oculus rift gear or any virtual reality headgear for that matter? If not, then you’re about to be in for a treat because the first ever virtual reality hub is now open in Sunway Giza!
What’s a virtual reality hub, you ask? It is a place where gamers and non-gamers alike can experience a cool experience-stimulated gaming adventure. It is controlled by a VR gear and the “hub” itself is in fact an empty room whereby players can express themselves freely and live out their gamer dreams, fighting off “monsters” or kicking a “villain” in the shins.
VRPortal is responsible for bringing to life the first ever virtual reality hub in Malaysia and it is set to be an interesting experience. Once you put on a VR gear, you will be submerged into the world of games where you yourself will be able to act out the role of a player in a game.
Each participant is given a room solely to themselves and there are 13 different 8′ x 10′ stations available at the hub. Don’t worry about walking into walls either because the hub is equipped with a Chaperone system. What this means is that you would be aware of your position in the room even when you’re deep within the VR world. If you find yourself approaching a wall, the Chaperone system will project a blue hologram of obstacle inside the game to notify the player. How cool is that?!
As players will be wearing a VR gear, they are advised to wear contact lenses as the likelihood of lens flare will be high while you are immersed in the VR world. Should you prefer to wear your glasses, it might hinder you from experiencing the real deal as well as minimise your VR experience.
If you prefer sitting down while you’re gaming, you can opt for the chairs as well! The cool part is there are certain interactive games that allow you to communicate with your peers in the next cubicle. There’s a built-in-mic at the station and you can also see the other player’s actions through their gaming avatars. It would no doubt liven your experience here as you battle your friend to the end!
The selection of current games available at the hub are categorised by different genres including family, interactive, shooting and horror.
In order to play, you’d have to book a VR session and wait for a confirmation call before scheduling a date and time when you can come in to play. Remember to bring your friends so you guys can have an awesome session together and see who winds up emerging as the true VR victor!
