Need some challenges to spice up your life? We have a bucket list of 10 challenges every Malaysian should give it a go this 2016.

1.Viper Challenge

Bored of Netflix and chill? How about pushing your body and mind with some physical action at the Viper Challenge?  First of its kind in South East Asia, the Viper Challenge is made up of 20+ large scale man-made obstacles across an 18+km course. In a nutshell it’s a day of crawling through mud, scaling heights, battling fatigue (and UV rays), and overcoming fears. Sure sound fun eh? There’s the King of Mountain Viper Challenge coming up this August at Genting Highlands. With 15 obstacles spread across a 10km route, it’s not as hardcore as the main Viper Challenge but trust us, it’s good enough to get you cracking.

2. Running Man Challenge

As the ‘Dab dance’ hype  is slowing down, here comes a new internet sensation – the Running Man challenge. Made viral by two university basketball players, the challenge is to perform the ‘running man‘ dance move to a 90s hit song called “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJ’s.  Why should you do it? Because our KL Firefighters took up the dare, slayed it and showed that real men can dance too! Think you can do it better than our Bomba? Get a few friends and let your moves do the talking.

6. Learn To Make Sambal Belacan

We Malaysians love spicy food. We’re always asking for extra spicy, more chilli, add sambal… If you don’t know how is sambal belacan made, its about time to take on the DIY Sambal Belacan challenge.

What you’ll need:
25 to 30 Bird’s eye chlili or Thai chilli (a mix of red and green)
1 thumb-sized belacan (dry fry it before hand)
1/2 tsp sugar
Pinch of salt, if needed
1 Kalamansi lime

METHOD:
1. Pound and grind down all the ingredients (except for the lime) until you get a rough paste.
2. Squeeze in the juice of 1 calamansi and 1/4 teaspoon of lime zest.

Don’t forget to share it with your neighbours!

7. Learn Calligraphy/ Lettering

In an world where we are swamped with information and distractions, sometimes its nice to block that all out and practice art. While painting and marking crafts are great de-stressing activities, calligraphy and lettering workshops are on the rise in KL. I’ve personally joined a chalk lettering workshop and that was the most distraction-free 2 hours of my life. Calligraphy is not only therapeutic, it also builds your character as the activity requires you to slow down and observe every single letter form you create. You can download calligraphy templates online and start working your magic from there or check out KLigraphy website for their workshop schedule.

8. Catch Local Football LIVE In A Stadium

Plus, watching live football is pure entertainment, defo better than staying at home and keeping up with your reality tv series. Click here to for match fixtures and venue.

It will give you new perspectives of life and definitely a very memorable one. Click here to find out more about longhouse homestay programs in Sarawak.

10. Go On A Yasmin Ahmad Movie Marathon

It’s been seven years since the nation’s most celebrated storyteller  Yasmin Ahmad left us but her presence in Malaysia is still so strong as if she’s still around us. She made films about ordinary subjects that touched people in extraordinary ways. On days when you’ve lost faith in humanity, this movie marathon challenge will remind you of the beauty in simplicity and restore your passion for people. We recommend you watch her films chronologically in terms of release date (Sepet -> Gubra -> Mukhsin -> Muallaf -> Talentime).
